Q. Can StandGuard Anti-Virus reside in an iASP?

A. No. Because of restrictions of the operating system (and the RSTLICPGM command), StandGuard Anti-Virus must be installed in the system database (SYSBASE). The exit programs used by the product cannot be in an independent ASP.

StandGuard Anti-Virus 6.11 Download and Installation

 

Requirements

  • IBM i 6.1 (i5/OS V6R1) or i5/OS V5R4 or V5R3
  • 5722SS1/5761SS1 option 30 (QSHELL)
  • 5722SS1/5761SS1 option 33 (PASE)
  • Ability to sign on to the system as QSECOFR or equivalent (*SECADM, *ALLOBJ and authority to RSTLICPGM command)
  • Must be current on the latest Cumulative PTF Package, HIPER Group PTF, and Database Group PTF for your operating system release.
  • License keys required. Ensure you have obtained a product license prior to installing product.

Note

If you are running StandGuard Network Security 2.3 or earlier, you should follow the instructions on the Convert StandGuard page BEFORE installing StandGuard Anti-Virus. (This step is not necessary if you are running StandGuard Network Security 3.0 or higher.)

Instructions

  1. Create a temporary directory on your PC: C:\TEMP
  2. Download the StandGuard Anti-Virus 6.11 application to the temporary directory
  3. Unzip the file to the C:\TEMP directory
  4. Open a DOS window (Click Start > Run, type COMMAND, press enter) and type the following commands:

    1. FTP
    2. OPEN
    3. Type your system name or IP address, press enter
    4. If necessary, type your username and password, press enter
    5. QUOTE RCMD CRTSAVF QGPL/SGAV611
    6. BIN
    7. PUT C:\TEMP\SGAV611 QGPL/SGAV611, press enter
    8. BYE
  5. Sign on to the system with *ALLOBJ and *SECADM authority and run the following commands:

    1. RSTOBJ OBJ(*ALL) SAVLIB(QTEMP) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/SGAV611)
    2. QTEMP/AVINSTALL
    3. When prompted, enter the license keys for features 5001 and 5010
  6. To go to the main StandGuard Anti-Virus menu, type AVMENU on a command line and press enter.
